There are a multitude of financial assistance programs and grants to carry out work that will improve the energy efficiency of your home and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions. 1— Canada Greener Homes Initiative

This grant invites Canadians to make their homes more energy-efficient and resilient to climate change. You can receive up to 3 different amounts under the program:

  • $125 to $5,000: this amount covers part of the costs of your eligible home renovations.
  • $600: This assistance covers the costs of your EnerGuide evaluations before and after your renovations.
  • $5,000 to $40,000: this interest-free loan will help you do major home renovations. You have 10 years to repay the total amount.

2— Chauffez vert

The Chauffez vert program provides financial assistance for energy-efficient work such as replacing an oil or propane heating system with a system powered by renewable energy or changing an oil or propane water heater to a water heater powered by renewable energy. 3— Éconologis

This program offers homeowners and tenants with a modest income free services to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Grant for a condensing boiler

Get a $900 grant by choosing a condensing boiler.

Benefit from a $150 subsidy for a condensing combo system or $850 for a very high-efficiency combo system.

Smart thermostat grant

If you are an Énergir customer who purchases and installs a smart thermostat, you can get a rebate of up to $100.

Low-income household supplement

Énergir offers financial support to low-income households. You must be a low-income owner of a single-family home or condo, or an owner of a condo, single-family home, duplex, or triplex occupied by one or more low-income tenants.

8— Rénoclimat

This governmental program assists you with your home renovation work. A Rénoclimat consultant will visit your residence to offer suggestions for enhancing the energy efficiency of your property. Furthermore, you may be eligible for financial aid if you:

  • Perform insulation and sealing work;
  • Replace doors and windows;
  • Install or replace the ventilation system, water heater, heat pump, heating system, or geothermal system;

9— Novoclimat

Novoclimat offers financial assistance to those who want to build a new high-energy-performance home. Once the property meets Novoclimat's requirements, the buyer can receive $2,000, and if it's a first-time buyer, an additional $2,000 in financial assistance is granted.

Other benefits:

  • The homeowner will receive additional financial assistance if an eligible heat pump is installed.
