The arrival of summer also means the return of long days in the pool!

Finally! It's time to open your pool! With winter over, we can once again enjoy the sun, the beautiful weather and the greenery.

Here are a few things to remember when it comes to preparing your pool for the return of warm weather. On your marks, get set, dive!

1- Clean the pool

Before doing anything, thoroughly clean the liner, the bottom and the edges of the pool to remove any debris, dead leaves, branches or insects that may have accumulated there in recent months. You certainly don't want this debris to block the pool filter! Throw away all the rubbish and wash the surfaces thoroughly with a suitable cleaner.

2- Connect the filter and pool accessories

This important step requires a minimum of knowledge of your equipment. If you do not feel familiar with your pool equipment, do not hesitate to call a pool and spa expert to help you. If you want to take matters into your own hands, consult one of the many pool reopening guides available online.

3- Treat and test the water

After cleaning, filling and restarting the pool, you will need to shock treat it and test your water to make sure it is clean and its pH is acceptable before letting the children take a dip. This process will differ from one type of pool to another, depending on whether you use chlorine or salt, for example, but it is quite simple to take care of it yourself. If you don't want to do it, contact a specialist in your area and they will come to test your water and make the necessary changes.

4- Enjoy your pool

Once your pool is clean and ready for swimming, put on your swimsuit, invite your family and friends to start another beautiful summer by the pool!
